Hammersmith flyover to reopen to LGVs at the end of the month

London’s Hammersmith flyover is to reopen to LGVs from the end of the month (30 May).

The flyover, one of the main arterial routes into the capital, was closed abruptly just before Christmas when routine inspections identified serious structural problems. It has since reopened to light vehicles only.

However, to complete the final work on the flyover, there will be two weeks of overnight closures from until the 30 May, each night between 22.00 and 06.00.

Garrett Emmerson, chief operating officer for surface transport at Transport for London, says: “The Hammersmith flyover is a vital artery for London and our engineers have been working non-stop since December to deliver a solution which allows us to fully reopen the flyover to all traffic as quickly as possible.”
